We couldn’t really find bamboo, and there was no one who would really venture forth to make shakuhachi out of wood, although they do now, but you don’t have the tools. And I think my father perhaps was exploring ideas, thought maybe learning tools so he could do something like that. But unfortunately, it didn’t happen. But gradually, we found out that there were a number of people that brought shakuhachi into camp.
