67. Whenever we had notable shakuachi players, we welcomed everyone to listen to them regardless of what school they belonged to.

Whenever we had shakuhachi players that were not necessarily of my father’s school, he’d say, well, you know, we’d put a note in the Rafu Shimpo (Japanese American newspaper), and said, you know, everyone is welcome. And then, if you’re interested, you know, to see and hear this man, ask questions, you’re welcome to come! The house would be full! And these notables would play for us and perform.
