the intermission was so long because they had to change costumes and change sets. You know, they’re all amateurs so it took time. So they had to have something in between to hold the audience.

And so, my cousin taught me one of the dances, and I learned the whole dance. And my cousin says, “Oh, she can dance tonight with us!” Well, my mother was just surprised that I was able to dance already, and I was seven. So my grandmother had to scrounge around in the Kabuki collection of costumes, and she found something that I was able to wear, when I was only seven years old. But that dance, I danced with them.
