2. My parents shared music with neighbors while succeeding in the restaurant business in LA.

And since they both played shakuhachi and koto, they shared that with neighbors and friends, and eventually they were teaching that on their off hours. But they opened a restaurant, an American restaurant near the train station, started out about 4 o’clock in the morning, and this is how their livelihood was. However, they became very wealthy over this. They hired six waitresses, and it was a thriving, thriving restaurant.
But eventually they decided it was time to let the people in Japan know that they were starting a family, and everything. So, with my sister in tow, they went to Japan for a while. But that’s when I came along, and I almost got,… to be born in Japan, they were preparing for me because my mother was showing quite prominently. But my father said, well, she has to be born in America, so we’d better go home.
And after a few months, they came back to Los Angeles. And I came along, and later on they started another restaurant. But interestingly enough, there was about 8th near Grand. And that was also thriving, they had a Chinese restaurant. They studied Chinese cooking. They loved to cook, so they studied Chinese cooking, opened up a Chinese restaurant.
