3. Janet Gaynor loved my parents’ music.

And then that time, the Orpheum Theater, which still exists, had live shows, and many of the stars would perform there or appear there. And so, on the way home after their performances they would stop by at my parents’ restaurant. So that included Janet Gaynor, Johnny Weismuller, and several others. And eventually, Janet Gaynor and my parents became very good friends, and that’s where my father got the name “George”. She called him “George” because she couldn’t pronounce “Kiichi”. And so, every time they were around, they would come. And he was telling me about one night (and my mother always laughs about this), that they were practicing, they loved their music so much they were practicing, and the restaurant was closed. And Janet Gaynor with her troupe had come, was banging on the door, and they said, “Let us in! I know you’re in there, George! Open the door!”, and so they said, they did. And when they came into the kitchen, there they were practicing. “What is that? Play for us! Play for us!” So, they played for Janet Gaynor. And even after they had ended the restaurant, he sold it, they started a hotel. And she, by then was married to Adrian, the dress designer, fashion designer. And they looked us up! And by this time, they had a hotel off of San Pedro near 4th. It’s a terrible area now, but anyway, and they had a hotel there. And she…they drove over and visited us. And I remember her picking me up, and she said, “Oh, you were just like this (motioning a height with her hand) when I remember you last time.” And I remember this still.
