53. Joined the musician’s union to play Japanese instruments for films, which paid for my college tuition. My father also played in many films such as “House of Bamboo.”

And then I had calls from people that played koto, so then I was… And then eventually, I joined the musician’s union because they needed people to play live, and this and so forth. So, that’s what happened. Then, I got involved with the booth(?) business so I was in a number of … early on. But it paid for my college tuition, which was great. So I managed to do that. And my father was in “Teahouse of… he did a substitute job for …. they needed to get coloring. And so he and Marlon Brando had to shoot together so they could get the right coloring for Marlon Brando. And Marlon Brando would tell him, “Your nose is too prominent for a Japanese!” And it was cute! It was really funny! It was kinda fun.

But my father didn’t appear in it. He was there … help with the coloring for Marlon Brando. So they chatted a bit. And he played in a number of films, though, my father did, the shakuhachi, ‘cause they needed “The House of Bamboo” and a couple of others, I forgot.
