57. After the war, so much opposition, even against the veterans because we looked like the enemy.

after you came out of camp, there was so much opposition. And the veterans are coming home, too, and they’re angry, I mean, they had to go to war and save their people and we were in camp because we looked like the enemy, and here we are coming out and getting into the mainstream. And, you know, you ride transportation, you could be not mugged exactly but hit somehow and you don’t know who did it, or they push you out of your seat and take it. And you know, things like that happen and you have no recourse. And if you tried to complain, they wouldn’t hear you, they wouldn’t care because you looked like the enemy. And people were mad at you.
